Ron de Yong is the Montana Director of Agriculture. He has served in this position since 2007.[1]


After receiving his two bachelors degrees, de Yong worked as a farmer for 20 years before deciding to go back to school to get his masters in economics. This led him to become a professor at California Polytechnic State University for seven years. De Yong has also been an economist for the National Farmers Union.[2]

Political career

Director of Agriculture (2007-Present)

De Yong has served as Montana Director of Agriculture since 2007. He was appointed to replace Nancy K. Peterson, who died of cancer.[2]



De Yong was re-appointed as Montana Director of Agriculture by Gov. Steve Bullock (D) in 2013.[3]
