On November 2, 2010 Gill won election to the North Carolina House of Representatives. She defeated primary opponents Kamau Aal Anubiaimhotepoko and Bernard Allen. Paul Terrel(R) defeated Susan Byrd Leventhal in the Republican primary. The general election took place on November 2, 2010.[3]
