Ryan Maher (b. August 19, 1977) has been a Republican member of the South Dakota State Senate since 2007, representing the 28th district.

Maher was a member of the Isabel School Board from 2002 to 2007. He joined the South Dakota State Senate in 2007 and has served in that position since. He represents the 28th district.

Maher worked as an auditor for the Office of Inspector General, United States Department of Health, from 2000 to 2002. He then worked as County Executive Director for Farm Service Agency from 2002 to 2004. From 2004 to 2008, he worked as a loan officer for Farmers State Bank. He became the owner of Sparker Bar and Grill in 2005 and has worked there since.

Maher earned his BS in Accounting from Black Hills State University in 2000. He went on to receive his MS in Banking from Colorado Graduate School of Banking in 2007.

Maher won re-election in the 2012 election for South Dakota State Senate District 28. He was unopposed in both the Republican primary on June 5 and the general election on November 6.[1]

2010

Maher ran for re-election to the 28th District Seat in 2010. He defeated Julie Garreau in the general election on November 2, 2010.

Maher had served as a Democrat from 2006 to 2010. In March, 2010, Maher changed his party affiliation to Republican.
