Path to the ballot
On June 17, 2008, the San Francisco Department of Elections received a proposed ordinance signed by Supervisors Ammiano, Daly, McGoldrick and Mirkarimi. On June 23, 2008 Supervisor Peskin signed as a co-sponsor of the ordinance. The City Elections Code allows four or more Supervisors to refer an ordinance to the ballot in this manner.
