Supervisor John Avalos sponsored putting the measure on the June ballot.

The measure, if it had gone on a ballot and if it had been approved by voters, would have:

  • Impose a 1.4% tax on commercial real estate leasing with gross receipts in excess of $2 million
  • Impose a .5 % Sales Tax Increase for Emergency Health and Human Services and Public Protection
  • Increase the city's 8.5% sales tax to 9% for three years.
