A San Francisco Retirement Credit for Unpaid Parental Leave Act, Proposition G ballot question was on the November 4, 2008 ballot in San Francisco, where it was approved.

Proposition G authorized the city to allow city employees to purchase retirement system credit for unpaid parental leave taken before July 1, 2003.

The question on the ballot:

Proposition G: "Shall the City allow City employees to purchase retirement system credit for unpaid parental leave taken before July 1, 2003, as long as the purchase price covers all City costs?"[1]

Path to the ballot

Proposition G was referred to the ballot on July 22, 2008 by a 9-2 vote of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.

In favor: Supervisors Alioto-Pier, Ammiano, Chu, Daly, Dufty, Maxwell, McGoldrick, Mirkarimi and Sandoval.

Against: Supervisors Elsbernd and Peskin.
