Sandra R. 'Sandy' Galef (b. May 7, 1940) is a Democratic member of the New York State Assembly, representing District 95. She was first elected to the chamber in 1992.

She previously represented District 90 in the New York State Assembly from 1993 to 2013. Galef's other political experience includes being President of the New York State Association of Counties, a county legislator, and a minority leader for Westchester County.

Biography

Galef earned her B.S. in Education from Purdue University and her M.Ed. in Education from the University of Virginia[1] Her professional experience includes teaching in various schools, and hosting two television shows; Dear Sandy and Speak-out with Sandy Galef.

Galef ran in the 2012 election for New York State Assembly District 95. She ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on September 13, 2012. She also ran on the Independence Party of New York State ticket. She defeated Kim Izzarelli in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[2][3]
