Sandra Peterson is a former Democratic-Farmer Labor member of the Minnesota House of Representatives, representing District 45A from 2005 to 2013.

Peterson was a teacher at Robbinsdale Public Schools from 1970-2004.

She previously served as Vice-President of Education Minnesota from 2001-2004 and Co-President from 1998-2001, President of the Minnesota Federation of Teachers from 1987-1998, and President of the Robbinsdale Federation of Teachers from 1977-1987.

Peterson is Chair of the Career Advancement Committee on the Governors Workforce Development Council, founding member of the Minnesota Mental Health Legislative Caucus, and a member of the Minnesota’s Economy Working Group. She is widowed and has 2 children.[1]

Peterson won re-election to the District 45A Seat in 2010. She had no primary opposition. She defeated Mark Martin (R) in the general election on November 2, 2010.[2]
