Higgins was a candidate for the 2011 Republican Party nomination for District 39 of the New Jersey General Assembly. Higgins was bracketed with Michael Wilson in the June 7 primary. Charlotte Vandervalk and Robert Schroeder are also running bracketed in the GOP primary. The top-two voter getters will advance to the general election on November 8, 2011.[2]
