Scott J. Kawasaki (b. March 20, 1975) is a Democratic member of the Alaska House of Representatives, representing the 9th District since 2007. Prior to his election to the House he served on the Fairbanks City Council from 1999-2005.

Kawasaki worked as a Senior Patient Representative at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital from 1999-2008. He is a member of Rotary Golden Heart, American Council of Young Political Leaders, Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity Board, American Red Cross, Big Brothers/Sisters of America, and the National Rifle Association.[1]


Kawasaki's answers to the Alaska State Legislative Election 2008 Political Courage Test are available. The test provides voters with how a candidate would vote on the issues if elected. He did not provide a response when asked his top legislative priorities.[2]

  • HB 69 - "An Act establishing in the Department of Education and Early Development a voluntary parent education home visiting program for pre-elementary aged children; and establishing a rating system for early childhood education."
  • HB 173 - "An Act authorizing the conveyance of certain land of the Alaska Railroad Corporation to the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities; and providing for an effective date."
  • HB 233 - "An Act relating to misconduct involving weapons in the third degree." [3]

Kawasaki won re-election to the 9th District Seat in 2010. He had no opposition in the August 24 primary.[4] He defeated Joseph A. Michel in the November 2 general election.[5]
