Sean Ryan is a Democratic member of the New York State Assembly, representing District 149 since 2013. He previously represented District 144 from 2011 to 2013. He was first elected in the September 13, 2011 special election. The special election was called to fill the vacancy created when Sam Hoyt (D) resigned from the Assembly and accepted a senior position at Empire State Development Corporation.[1]

Ryan ran in the 2012 election for New York State Assembly District 149. He defeated Joseph A. Mascia (who also ran on the Conservative Party ticket) and Kevin P. Gaughan in the Democratic primary on September 13, 2012. He also ran on the Working Families Party ticket. He defeated Joseph A. Mascia in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[2][3]
