Shane Cultra is a Republican member of the Illinois State Senate. He has represented District 53 since 2011. Cultra was selected to replace Dan Rutherford, who was elected Illinois Treasurer. He previously served in the Illinois House of Representatives, representing the 105th district from 2003 to 2010.

Cultra is the former President of Onarga Nursery, and Girls Basketball Coach at Saint John's Lutheran School in Buckley.

He is Chair of the Grand Prairie Seminary Board of Trustees of the Lions Club, Onarga Christian Church, and Chair of the Onarga Community Center.[1]

Cultra ran for re-election to the Illinois State Senate in District 53 in the 2012 election. Cultra lost to Jason Barickman, current House incumbent in District 105, in the Republican primary on March 20, 2012. The general election takes place on November 6, 2012.[2][3]

Cultra won re-election to the 105th District seat against Green Party candidate Vince LaMie. He ran unopposed in the Republican primary on February 2nd. The general election took place on November 2, 2010.[4]
