Shirley K. Turner is a Democratic member of the New Jersey Senate, representing District 15. She was first elected to the chamber in 1997. Bills that have been sponsored by Senator Turner include Senate Bill 2 and Senate Bill 4.[1]

Turner was the Associate Minority Leader for the New Jersey State Assembly from 1996 to 1998.[2]

Biography

Turner graduated with a B.A. in Education from Trenton State College and also graduated with an M.A. in Guidance and Counseling from Rider College. Turner later studied postgraduate studies and education at Rutgers University.[3] She is the Associate Director of Career Services at Rider University.

Turner ran in the 2013 election for New Jersey State Senate District 15. Turner was unopposed in the June 4 Democratic primary and is challenged by Don Cox (R) in the general election which takes place on November 5, 2013.[4][5]

Turner won re-election to the District 15 State Senate seat in the 2011 election. She ran unopposed in the June 7 Democratic primary. Turner defeated Donald Cox (R) in the general election which took place on November 8, 2011. [6]
