Sidney Mathias is a Republican member of the the Illinois House of Representatives, representing the 53rd district since 1999.

Mathias Attorney. Prior to his election to the House he served as President of the Village of Buffalo Grove from 1991-1999, and as Trustee from 1998-1999.

Mathias is a member of the Southeast Regional Planning Council - College of Lake County, Arlington Heights Chamber of Commerce, Buffalo Grove Chamber of Commerce Member, and the Wheeling/Prospect Heights Chamber of Commerce.[1]

On November 4, 2008, Republican Sidney Mathias won re-election to the Illinois House of Representatives District 53 receiving 24,132 votes, ahead of Democrat Carol Javens (20,587 votes), and Rob Sherman (Green) who received 1,264 votes.[2]

On November 7, 2006, Republican Sidney Mathias won re-election to the Illinois House of Representatives District 53 receiving 18,751 votes ahead of Democrat Michael MacDonald who received 12,412 votes.[3]
