Simon Ribeiro was a 2012 Democratic candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 9th Congressional District of Illinois. Ribeiro was defeated by incumbent Jan Schakowsky in the Democratic primary on March 20, 2012.[1]


Ribeiro graduated from Evanston Township High School and earned university degrees in political science, history, and secondary education. [2]


Currently, Ribeiro is a high school teacher in the Chicago Archdiocese. [2]

Ribeiro ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House to represent Illinois' 9th District. Ribeiro sought the nomination on the Democratic ticket. [4] The signature filing deadline was December 27, 2011, with the primary taking place on March 20, 2012. Incumbent Janice D. Schakowsky is seeking re-election on the Democratic ticket.

Incumbent Jan Schakowsky defeated Ribeiro in the Democratic primary on March 20, 2012.[1] Schakowsky will face Republican candidate Timothy Wolfe in the general election on November 6, 2012. Wolfe ran unopposed in the Republican primary.
