Pope has worked as Associate Director of the Foundation for Madison's Public Schools.[1]

Pope won re-election in the 2012 election for Wisconsin State Assembly District 80. Pope defeated Charles Uphoff and Joseph Wineke in the Democratic primary on August 14[2] and defeated Tom Lamberson (R) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[3]
