On November 8, 2011, Williams-Barnes won election to District 119 of the Mississippi House of Representatives. She defeated Jacqueline Johnson, John Johnson, and Robert Williams, in the primary on August 2, 2011. She defeated Richard Marsh in a primary runoff on August 23.[1] Williams-Barnes was unchallenged in the November 8 general election.[2][3]
