<p align="justify">''Located in the southeast region of the United States, South Carolina is bordered by North Carolina, Georgia and the Atlantic Ocean. Nicknamed “the Palmetto state,” South Carolina was the first state to ratify the Articles of Confederation, the eighth state to ratify the U.S. Constitution and the eighth state to be admitted to the Union. While Columbia is South Carolina’s capital and largest city, the city of Greenville is the state’s largest metropolitan area. Currently, there are two Republican members of the U.S. Senate, a total of six members of the U.S. House of Representatives, 46 members of the South Carolina State Senate and 124 members of the South Carolina House of Representatives. As of September 2013, South Carolina is one of 24 Republican state government trifectas.''</p></td></tr>

'''November 2, 2007''': Stephen Colbert will not be on the ballot for the South Carolina Democratic party's presidential primary. The host of Comedy Centrals "Colbert Report" had the application and $2,500 fee filed less than an hour before the deadline. Carol Fowler, chairwoman of the state Democratic party, said the party "really agonized over this because they really like him, they love his show and everyone thinks it's wonderful that he cares about us."<ref>[http://www.themoneytimes.com/news/20071102/colbert_wont_be_on_primary_ballot-id-1012499.html ''Colbert won't be on primary ballot'', The Money Times, Nov. 2, 2007]</ref>

Welcome to South Carolina on Ballotpedia!

Located in the southeast region of the United States, South Carolina is bordered by North Carolina, Georgia and the Atlantic Ocean. As of September 2013, South Carolina is one of 24 Republican state government trifectas.
