The
South Dakota Lieutenant Governor is
South Dakota's second highest Constitutional Officer. According to the
state Constitution the
lieutenant governor serves as the president of the
state Senate but is not allowed to vote unless it is to break a tie. Additionally, the lieutenant governor performs the duties and exercise the powers that may be delegated are to him/her by the
governor.
The current officeholder is Dennis Daugaard.
