Authority

The office of the secretary of labor is established in Chapter 1-37, Section 1 of the South Dakota Codified Laws.

Chapter 1-37, Section 1:

Department of Labor and Regulation created -- Secretary as head. There is hereby created a Department of Labor and Regulation. The head of the Department of Labor and Regulation is the secretary of labor and regulation who shall be appointed and serve pursuant to the provisions of the Constitution of the State of South Dakota, Article IV, § 9.
