South Kingston School Budget Referendum (2009)

The South Kingston School Budget Referendum appeared on the June 9, 2009 ballot in Washington County, Rhode Island in the town of South Kingston. The referendum called for rejection of a proposal to cut $1.3 million from the $59.6-million school budget that the Town Council had adopted for the fiscal year 2010.[1]

The referendum was approved.

On June 9, 2009 voters rejected the town council's proposal. In light of the Tuesday vote, the town will still appropriate only $47.9 million to the school district, however, the district will receive additional funds from state aid, federal funds and other sources.[2]
