Spencer Hawley is a Democratic member of the South Dakota House of Representatives, representing District 7. Hawley was elected to the South Dakota House of Representatives in 2010.

Hawley served for 30 years in the South Dakota Army National Guard and in 2000 was promoted to Colonel. He began his career in the insurance industry as an agent for the Jim Long & Associates Agency of Brookings and Huron. He later bought the agency in 1989. He has served on the Brookings City Board of Appeals and was appointed by the governor to sit on the South Dakota Game, Fish, and Parks Commission in 2003.

He earned his bachelor's degree in Political Science and Economics from South Dakota State University.

Hawley won re-election in the 2012 election for South Dakota House of Representatives District 7. Hawley ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on June 5 and won re-election in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[1]
