A St James Township EMS Levy Renewal measure was on the August 7, 2012 ballot in the township of St James, which is in Charlevoix County.

This measure sought to renew the current EMS levy which is set at a rate of $1 per $1,000 of assessed value for a further four years in order to continue to pay for emergency medical services offered in the township.[2]

Text of measure

The question on the ballot:

Shall the limitation on the amount of ad valorem taxes which may be levied by the Township of St. James, Charlevoix County, Michigan, against taxable property in the Township be increased by up to 1 mill ($1.00 per $1,000 of taxable value) for a period of four (4) years, 2012 through 2015, inclusive, for the purpose of providing funds for emergency medical services, and shall the Township levy such millage for this purpose? If approved and levied in its entirety, this millage would raise an estimated $48,231 for the Township in 2012.[3]
