A St James Township Historical Levy Renewal measure will be on the August 7, 2012 ballot in the township of St James, which is in Charlevoix County.

This measure seeks to renew the current historical society levy which is set at a rate of $.25 per $1,000 of assessed value for a further four years in order to continue to pay for eoperational costs of thr Beaver Island historical society which is in the township.[1]

Text of measure

The question on the ballot:

Shall the limitation on the amount of ad valorem taxes which may be levied by the Township of St. James, Charlevoix County, Michigan, against taxable property in the Township be increased by up to .25 mills ($0.25 per $1,000 of taxable value) for a period of four (4) years, 2012 through 2015, inclusive, for the purpose of providing funds for the operation of the Beaver Island Historical Society, and shall the Township levy such millage for this purpose? If approved and levied in its entirety, this millage would raise an estimated $12,057 for the Township in 2012.[2]
