Stephen Bing is a real estate heir. He was a major donor to California's Prop 87 in 2006. According to the Los Angeles Times, the approximately $50 million that Bing spent on that failed initiative was "the biggest single personal investment in a ballot proposition in state history."[1]

In more recent news, the New York Post gossip column, Page Six, has retracted the claim it made in a December 28, 2006 column that Stephen Bing and Pamela Anderson had gone on "a dinner date from hell". There was no such date, and Page Six regrets the error.[2]
