Steve Newman has been a Republican member of the Virginia Senate since 1996, representing the 23rd district.

Newman attended Central Virginia Community College and Lynchburg College.

In addition to serving as senator Newman is vice president of marketing and sales and a board member at Delta Star, Inc. Previously Newman served as a member of the Lynchburg City Council, from 1988-1991.
