Stephen R. "Steve" Archambault is a Democratic member of the Rhode Island State Senate representing District 22 since 2013. He was formerly one of the five members that made up the town council for Smithfield, Rhode Island.

On May 28, 2009, he announced his candidacy for the statewide office of attorney general, the seat being vacated by Patrick Lynch, who is barred by state term limit laws from running for a third consecutive term in office. [1] Archambault, however, failed to secure the party nomination on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 after receiving a little over thirty-three percent of the vote.
