Steve Landek is a Democratic member of the Illinois State Senate, representing District 12 since 2013. He represented District 11 from his appointment in February 2011 to fill the unexpired term of Louis Viverito to January 2013.[1]

Landek earned his BA in Public Administration from Roosevelt University. He worked as a park district commissioner for the State of Illinois from 1975 to 1996. He has served as Mayor of Bridgeview, Illinois, since 1999.

Landek won re-election in the 2012 election for Illinois State Senate District 12. He defeated Raul Montes, Jr. in the Democratic Primary on March 20, 2012[2][3] and was unopposed in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012. Current District 12 incumbent Martin Sandoval ran for re-election in District 11.[4][5][6]

The Illinois Opportunity Project, "an independent research and public policy enterprise that promotes legislative solutions in advance of free markets and free minds," annually releases its Legislative Vote Card, grading all members in both chambers of the Illinois General Assembly on the basis of their support of "pro-growth economic policies that increase personal freedom and reign in expansive government."[7][8]

Landek received a score of 62.50 out of 100 in 2012 for a grade of C- according to the IOP’s grading scale. His score was tied for the 24th highest among all 59 members of the Illinois State Senate included in the Vote Card.[8]
