Steve Tarvin is a 2014 special election Republican candidate for District 2 of the Georgia House of Representatives.[1]

Tarvin was a 2012 Republican candidate for District 2 of the Georgia House of Representatives. [2] Tarvin was defeated by incumbent Jay Neal in the Republican primary on July 31, 2012.[3]

Republicans Neal Florence, Steve Tarvin and Doug Woodruff faced off in the special election, which took place on January 7.[1][4][5] As no candidate received more than fifty percent of the vote, the top-two vote-getters - Tarvin and Florence - met in a runoff on February 4, which Tarvin won.[6][7]

The seat was vacant following Jay Neal's (R) resignation to serve as executive director of the Governor’s Office of Transition, Support and Re-entry.[8]

A special election for the position of Georgia House of Representatives District 2 was called for January 7, with a runoff if necessary on February 4. The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was November 20, 2013.[9]
