Steve Tarvin is a Republican member of the Georgia House of Representatives, representing District 2. He was first elected to the chamber in a special election on 2014 special election.

Tarvin was a 2012 Republican candidate for District 2 of the Georgia House of Representatives.[1] Tarvin was defeated by incumbent Jay Neal in the Republican primary on July 31, 2012.[2]

Elections for the office of Georgia House of Representatives will take place in 2014. A primary election took place May 20, 2014; a runoff election will take place where necessary on July 22, 2014. The general election will be held on November 4, 2014. The signature-filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 7, 2014. Incumbent Thomas S. "Steve" Tarvin defeated L.E. "Ebeth" Edwards and Rebecca Ann Brown in the Republican primary and is unchallenged in the general election.[3][4]

Republicans Neal Florence, Steve Tarvin and Doug Woodruff faced off in the special election, which took place on January 7.[5][6][7] As no candidate received more than fifty percent of the vote, the top-two vote-getters - Tarvin and Florence - met in a runoff on February 4, which Tarvin won.[8][9]

The seat was vacant following Jay Neal's (R) resignation to serve as executive director of the Governor’s Office of Transition, Support and Re-entry.[10]

A special election for the position of Georgia House of Representatives District 2 was called for January 7, with a runoff if necessary on February 4. The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was November 20, 2013.[11]
