Eliason received his bachelor's degree and MBA from the University of Utah, where he has also occasionally taught accounting. He has been a Certified Public Accountant in Utah since 1997.
Prior to his election, Eliason was the Chief Financial Officer and General Manager for the retail division of the Utah Jazz (Larry H. Miller Sports & Entertainment). He previously worked as Senior Audit Manager for KPMG, an accounting and auditing firm.
