Steven Losey is a 2012 Democratic candidate for District 51 of the Michigan House of Representatives. He was a Democratic candidate in the February 28, 2012 special election for the Michigan House of Representatives, District 51. The special election was called to fill the vacancy created when Paul Scott (R) was recalled on November 8, 2011.[1]

Losey is a special education teacher with a B.S. in Special Education and an M.A. in Learning Disabilities, both from Eastern Michigan University.[2]

Campaign issues

Losey said he was running due to his belief in "the Middle Class, Public Education, protecting our Seniors and protecting our families." He said his "top priorities will be Accessibility and Accountability."[2]

Losey is running in the 2012 election for Michigan House of Representatives District 51. He is running against Ryan Starski in the Democratic primary on August 7, 2012. Incumbent Joseph Graves and John Lauve are running in the Republican primary. The general election takes place on November 6, 2012.[3]

Losey was defeated by Joseph Graves (R) in the special election on February 28, 2012. Cary Neuville-Justice (G) also ran. Candidates were selected by their respective political parties.[4][5][6]

On January 20, the District 51 candidates participated in a debate sponsored by the Flint Area League of Women Voters.[7]
