There may be a Sullivan County Government Change Referendum on the November 2010 ballot in Sullivan County.

Some former county government officials and local residents have formed a committee to assess the possibility of changing the county's form of government from a managerial form of government to electing a county executive. Currently the nine elected county legislators elect a manager among themselves. Residents think it may be time to give that power to the people instead. Some think that corruption is more prevalent with the legislators decided who is the head of the government. County government officials have not approved this committee but it they start a petition and are able to collect the needed signatures, they could force this issue to a vote.[1]
