Susan Hamilton is a Democratic member of the North Carolina House of Representatives, representing District 18. Hamilton was first elected in 2010.

She has worked in North Carolina as a historic preservation planner and a long range city planner for projects that include the effort to redevelop downtown Wilmington. In 2001, she became the Executive Director of Wilmington Downtown Inc., and in 2007 she became the founder and CEO of Hamilton Planning.

Hamilton has a B.A. in History from UNC Chapel Hill and a Master's Degree in Public Administration from UNC Wilmington. She and her husband Steve live in Wilmington with their daughter, Parker Elizabeth.[1]

Hamilton ran for re-election in 2012. She defeated James A. Knox in the May 8, 2012 Democratic primary. She defeated Louis Harmati (R) in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[2][3]

On November 2, 2010 Hamilton won election to the North Carolina House of Representatives. Hamilton defeated James Utley in the May 4 Democratic primary by a margin of 1,753-1,692. Hamilton defeated Mary Dawson (R) in the general election on November 2.[4]
