Talis J. Colberg is the seventeenth and current Attorney General of Alaska, having been apointed by Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin on December 13, 2006. Palin said about her appointment of Talis, “Adding [him] to my team continues to demonstrate my commitment to fill the top posts of my administration with the best in the state." "He will bring a fresh perspective on all issues as legal advisor to the governor and other state officers. Colberg has a profound respect for the Constitution of the State of Alaska and its strict interpretation. He is an inherent believer in trust and transparency.”[1]

Background

Before his appointment, Colberg was a solo practitioner in Palmer, Alaska and an adjunct History professor at Matanuska-Susitna College. Colberg succeeded David W. Márquez.

Colberg graduated from Palmer High School in 1976, after which he attended Pacific Lutheran University (B.A. 1979) and Pepperdine University School of Law (J.D. 1983). He is working on his Ph.D. at University of Alaska.

Colberg lives in Palmer and is married with two daughters.
