Tate Reeves is the current Republican Lieutenant Governor of Mississippi. He won election to this position in the 2011 elections and took office on January 5, 2012.[1] Reeves was the first Republican treasurer in state history, serving from 2004-2012.

Biography

Reeves was born in Rankin County, Mississippi. He is married and has two children.

Reeves is a the Chartered Financial Analyst and a member of the CFA Society of Mississippi and the CFA Institute. He served as president of the National Association of State Treasurers (NAST) from 2006-2007.

Reeves as elected as state treasurer in 2003 and re-elected in 2007.[2]

Reeves won election as Lieutenant Governor of Mississippi in 2011. He defeated state senator Billy Hewes in the Republican primary election, held August 2, 2011.

In the general election, on November 8, 2011, Reeves defeated Reform Party candidate Tracella Lou O'Hara Hill. Lisa Barfield-McCarty had initially filed as a Reform candidate, but the Mississippi State Board of Elections ruled, in early September, that Hill would be the only recognized Reform candidate. No Democrats filed for the office.
