In September 2012, he was nominated to fill remainder of incumbent Daniel McComas' term after McComas' resignation.[1]

Davis ran in the 2012 election for North Carolina House of Representatives District 19. He defeated Dean Lambeth in the Republican primary on May 8, 2012. Davis defeated Emilie Swearingen (D) in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[2][3]
