The Tennessee Commissioner of Labor and Workforce Development is an appointed executive position in the Tennessee state government. The commissioner oversees the Department of Labor and Workforce Development, whose mission is to promote workforce development and improve workplace safety and health throughout the state.[1]

The current acting commissioner is Burns Phillips. Phillips was named to replace Karla Davis, who abruptly resigned the post on March 18, 2013.[2]
