The
Tennessee Governor is the head of the executive branch of
Tennessee's government and the commander-in-chief of the state's military forces. The
governor has a duty to enforce state laws and the state
constitution. Additionally, the governor has the power to grant reprieves and pardons and convene special sessions with the
state General Assembly. The governor is also the keeper of the Great Seal of the State of Tennessee.
The current officeholder is Phil Bredesen.
