Terry Van Akkeren (b. March 10, 1954) is a 2014 Democratic candidate for District 26 of the Wisconsin State Assembly.

Akkeren was a Democratic member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing the 26th District from 2003 until 2010.

Biography

Van Akkeren is an engineering technician and tool and die maker. He previously served as a Sheboygan Alderman from 1986-2003, and Sheboygan County Supervisor from 1990-1992.

He is married and has four children.[1]

Elections for the office of Wisconsin State Assembly will consist of a primary election on August 12, 2014, and a general election on November 4, 2014. The signature-filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 2, 2014. Job Hou-Seye will face Terry Katsma and Terry Van Akkeren in the Republican primary.[2][3]

Van Akkeren failed in his re-election bid to Wisconsin State Assembly District 26. He was defeated by Republican Mike Endsley in the general election on November 2, 2010. Also defeated was Independent Job Hou-seye. Van Akkeren defeated Democrat Juan Perez in the September 14, 2010, primary election.[4]
