Terry Van Akkeren (b. March 10, 1954) was a 2014 Republican candidate for District 26 of the Wisconsin State Assembly.[1]

Akkeren was a Democratic member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing the 26th District from 2003 until 2010.


Van Akkeren is an engineering technician and tool and die maker. He previously served as a Sheboygan Alderman from 1986-2003, and Sheboygan County Supervisor from 1990-1992.

He is married and has four children.[2]

Elections for all 99 seats in the Wisconsin State Assembly took place in 2014. A primary election took place on August 12, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature-filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 2, 2014. Terry Van Akkeren was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Job Hou-Seye was defeated by Terry Katsma in the Republican primary. Van Akkeren and Katsma faced off in the general election.[1][3] Katsma defeated Van Akkeren in the general election, and was elected to the seat.[4]

Van Akkeren failed in his re-election bid to Wisconsin State Assembly District 26. He was defeated by Republican Mike Endsley in the general election on November 2, 2010. Also defeated was Independent Job Hou-seye. Van Akkeren defeated Democrat Juan Perez in the September 14, 2010, primary election.[5]
