Thomas J. Abinanti is a Democratic member of the New York State Assembly, representing District 92. He was first elected to the chamber in 2011.

Abinanti served two terms as the Greenburg Town Councilman and ten terms with the Westchester County Legislature. He was the Majority Leader of the Legislature three times and the chair of numerous committees.


Abinanti earned his B.A. from Fordham College, and his J.D. from New York University School of Law. His professional experience includes working as a prosecuting attorney who has served as legal counsel to Congress and staff counsel to the New York State Assembly, and working as an Adjunct professor at Mercy College of Dobbs Ferry.[1]

Abinanti ran in the 2012 election for New York State Assembly District 92. He ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on September 13, 2012. He also ran on the Working Families Party and Independence Party of New York State tickets. He was unchallenged in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[2][3]
