Thomas Courtney is a Democratic member of the Iowa State Senate, representing District 44 since 2003. He served as Senate Majority Whip from 2006 to 2012. Courtney was a member of the Burlington School Board.

Courtney served in the United States Air Force. He has also worked for Case/New Holland Company. He is now retired.
