Thomas A. Garrett, Jr. is a Republican member of the Virginia State Senate, representing District 22. He was first elected to the chamber in 2011.

Biography

Garrett earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Richmond. He went on to receive his J.D. from T.C. Williams School of Law in Richmond.

Garrett has worked as a legislative aide to Delegate Bill Janis of the Virginia House of Delegates. He has also worked as an attorney/prosecutor.

On November 8, 2011, Garrett won election to District 22 of the Virginia State Senate. He defeated Mark Peake, Bryan Rhode, Brian Bates, and Claudia Tucker in the primary on August 23, 2011. [2][3] He defeated Bert Dodson (D) in the general election on November 8, 2011.[4]
