Thomas Sands (b. September 13, 1954) is a Republican member of the Iowa House of Representatives, representing the 87th District since 2003. He was Finance Chair of the Columbus Junction City Council from 1996-2002.

Sands is a Commercial Loan Officer and Appraiser with Columbus Junction State Bank. He has previously been a Life Insurance Agent with Life Investors Company from 1994-1998, Appraiser with Vanguard Appraisals from 1996-1997, Sales Manager of the Sajak Farm Implement Company from 1990-1993, and Owner/Operator of Grain and Livestock Farm from 1972-1992.

Sands is a Township Trustee in Concord Township, Finance Director of the Louisa County Farm Bureau, Charter Member/First Commander of the Sons of the American Legion, and a member of the United Methodist Church.[1]

Sands ran in the 2012 election for Iowa House of Representatives District 88. Sands ran unopposed in the Republican primary on June 5, 2012 and defeated Sara Sedlacek (D) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[2][3]
