Thomas 'Tom' C. Sawyer (b. August 15, 1945) is a Democratic member of the Ohio State Senate, representing District 28. He was first appointed to the chamber in February 2007.

Sawyer served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 1977 to 1983. He later represented District 14 in the United States House of Representatives from 1987 to 2003.

Biography

Sawyer received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Akron. He worked as a personnel administrator for the Cuyahoga School for Boys and a legislative analyst for Ohio Public Utilities Commission. Sawyer previously served as Mayor of Akron from 1984 to 1986 and a member of the Ohio State School Bard in 2007.
