Toi Hutchinson is a Democratic member of the Illinois State Senate. She was appointed on January 5, 2009[1] to fill out now Congresswoman Debbie Halvorson's unexpired term. Hutchinson was previously Halvorson's chief of staff. She is also a former Village Clerk of Olympia Fields, Illinois.

Hutchinson is currently seeking election to Illinois' 2nd congressional district in the special election to fill Jesse Jackson Jr.'s vacant seat. She was one of five Democratic candidate to file by the first in line deadline, and she will appear fourth on the ballot as a result of the ballot position lottery. [2][3]

Hutchinson graduated with her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.

Hutchinson won re-election in the 2012 election for Illinois State Senate District 40. Hutchinson was unopposed in the Democratic primary on March 20, and defeated Joseph C. Marshall (R) in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[6][7]
