TULSA, Oklahoma: Proposed charter amendments which will be on the November 8 ballot in Tulsa Oklahoma have not garnered the support city officials had hoped. The League of Women Voters studied the proposed changes and came to the conclusion that none of the proposed amendments would make the Tulsa charter better or would improve the function of the City government. They note that the proposal to change the mayor/council form of government has no merit as the current system works fine so there is no reason to change it. While it is stated that there are problems with the government, none of the proposed changes fixes those issues. The League states that the real problem is that Tulsa lacks the right people to govern and changes to who is elected would be more effective for making lasting changes than making artificial changes to the charter.
