Twinkle Andress Cavanaugh is the President of the Alabama Public Service Commission. She was first elected commissioner in November 2010. In 2012, she unseated incumbent Democrat Lucy Baxley for the position of commission President.[1]

Biography

Cavanaugh is co-owner of Cavanaugh Bradley Animal Hospital and co-owner of Conservative Solutions. She previously served as Deputy Chief of Staff/Senior Advisor in the office of Alabama Governor Bob Riley and has been Executive Director/Chair of the Alabama Republican Party.[2]

Cavanaugh is the President of the Public Service Commission. She was first elected to the commission in November 2010 won the position of President in November 2012. She will come up for re-election in November 2014.

Twinkle Cavanaugh campaign ad from January 2012

Cavanaugh ran for President of the Alabama Public Service Commission in 2012. She faced Kathy Peterson and Chip Brown in the Republican primary on March 13. Since no candidate took 50 percent of the vote, Cavanaugh and Brown headed to a runoff election on April 24,[3] which Cavanaugh easily won.[4]

Cavanaugh defeated incumbent Lucy Baxley, who was unopposed for the Democratic nomination, in the general election on November 6, 2012.
