Ty Masterson is a Republican member of the Kansas State Senate, representing District 16. He was first elected to the chamber in 2008. He previously served in the Kansas House of Representatives from 2005 to 2008. He also served on the Andover, Kansas City Council.

On November 4, 2008, Masterson was elected to the 16th District Seat in the Kansas State Senate, defeating Peter DeVries (D).[10] In 2008 Masterson raised $90,902 for his campaign, while DeVries raised $62,579.[11]
